Adult Day Services | San Mateo County

Since 1975, Catholic Charities Adult Day Services has offered a sensible and affordable option for care and companionship during the day to residents of San Mateo County. In addition to providing a broad range of recreational and social activities, our program offers non-medical personal care, supervision, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Our goal is to create an environment that respects the dignity and life experience of those who might otherwise become isolated and are in need of some social interaction and stimulating activities. We help their families keep them in their own homes and communities as long as it is safe for them to do so. We provide support to caregivers who may be facing one of their most challenging roles, often with little experience or training to do so.

Our program is situated in a bright, spacious room bordered by an enclosed courtyard shaded by a majestic oak tree. With no more than 35 participants per day, we offer a range of fun and stimulating activities, the opportunity to make new friends, and an environment of warmth and respect created by our experienced staff.

We are conveniently located on a residential street just one block from the shops and restaurants along San Carlos’ Laurel Street.

Adult Day Services Transportation

Caregivers are welcome to drive participants to and from our center, although most take advantage of SamTrans Paratransit, coordinated by our staff.

Paratransit, provided by Redi-Wheels, is for persons with disabilities who cannot independently use regular bus service. Redi-Wheels has a separate application process to determine eligibility for paratransit service.

Here is the typical schedule for participants who use Redi-Wheels:

  • 9:00-9:30 am  — Participants arrive at the program. Program staff greet each participant individually and escort them into the Center for breakfast.
  • 2:00-2:30 pm — Staff members escort participants to buses. (A 4:30 pm bus is scheduled for participants enrolled in our Extended Day Care schedule.)

To apply, please call Redi-Wheels at 650 366 4856. The application process can take up to four weeks from the time you make an eligibility appointment. After Redi-Wheels eligibility is established, our staff can coordinate transportation to and from our program.
