This Sunday around the world, Catholics and Christians will be celebrating Easter. The Lenten season that proceeds the celebration of Easter, provides a time for reflection and acknowledgment. Many of the clients we serve, those of whom are Catholic, non-Catholic and those with no religion, have a shared experience of suffering. We bear witness to their struggle and walk hand-in-hand with them as they seek solace and refuge during their time of need.
On Easter, Catholics and Christians will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, it must have been a frightening moment for Peter when he discovered that Jesus was missing from the tomb. I am reminded of how Pope Francis described Peter's reaction to finding Jesus' empty tomb by saying, "Without giving in to sadness or darkness, he made room for hope: he allowed the light of God to enter into his heart.”
Like Peter, at Catholic Charities, we are making room for hope.
You are our hope.
Because of you, Catholic Charities is ending homelessness and keeping families housed. We are breaking cycles of generational poverty and instilling the values of leadership and teamwork in our next generation. We are welcoming everyone and strengthening our community. We are fostering independence for seniors and adults with disabilities.
In the true spirit of charity and justice, we are serving all, regardless of religion, race, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigration status. We are here for everyone.
Easter is a time of hope and renewal. As we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we take comfort in the joy this season brings to the world.
Wishing you peace and Easter blessings,
Chief Executive Officer
