UPDATE Wed., Oct. 9, 2019, 7:45 pm: We are aware of a fire that occurred this afternoon in the town of Occidental. We have been told by fire authorities that the fire is out and does not pose a threat to Catholic Charities CYO Camp. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the North Bay, including Sonoma County. With red flag warnings comes the possibility of power outages by PG&E to mitigate fire danger. Red flag warnings are expected to persist through Wednesday. At the present time, PG&E is not planning any outages in the area of Occidental.
Catholic Charities and camp leadership have assessed our preparations and have extensively planned for power outages. We are confident that all measures are in place to guarantee the safety of all participants and staff, and to continue food service in case of a prolonged outage. Power outages have little to no impact on our program delivery. Catholic Charities CYO Camp is always prepared for potential power outages.
Please reference the PG&E website for more information on any planned outages across their coverage area.
